Stillness means depth. Depth means feeling yourself. Trying to suppress feelings is often an attempt to escape your feelings. My dear, whoever you are, you strive to escape them, to hide from them. You consistently strive to keep yourself away from all those feelings that represent pain and grief. You try to suppress these because they are the path to despair and loneliness.
But in despair, all people are ultimately lonely. They are alone, separated from everyone else in the herd, exposed to the revelation of suffering and forever trapped in the depths. It is the state of being able to suffer the world. One of the most powerful forms of passion, whether you want it or not. My dear darling, you cannot escape this revelation in life. You will have to understand how to live with it and learn from it. It brings you to the quintessence of life, to the basis of everything it means to be human and a living being. Pain makes you understand that you are alive, grief, that you are mortal.
You can’t hide forever in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and hope that the cup of this revelation will pass you by. Revelation is a law of nature that will always overtake you—sooner or later. Therefore, you should learn to face it as early as possible in order to perceive the heartbeat of life. Only then will you recognize the dangers in life that silence the beating of your heart and take your breath away. Dangers, dear, that kill you mercilessly. Nature is merciless.
The price you’ll pay is the acquisition of sincerity and empathy. Both, however, are necessary tools to keep you grounded in life. A fair deal with life, I think. Just as light and darkness need each other to be understood as the miracle they are, you can only truly appreciate joy and happiness once you’ve learned to courageously face this revelation. You will be rewarded with maturity.
